Course syllabus & Schema of work (MRD 531)
This course is a continuation from Digital Image Processing I. Further understanding of the underlying principles of digital image formation and related technical aspects, and their applications in medical imaging areas will be emphasised. Appreciation of problem solving methods employed by using various image processing techniques will also be highlighted. Application of image analysis techniques as they apply to different imaging modalities will also be discussed. Students will also be exposed to current approaches in image processing with respect to particular imaging modalities.
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Explain the various image processing techniques related to digital image processing; and the concept and function of health/hospital information system.
- Solve problems related to image processing in medical imaging using various image processing techniques.
- Demonstrate information retrieval and management skills through internet and literature search related to current health/hospital information system.
